In an effort to enhance the customer shopping experience and maximize energy efficiency, Scarborough, Maine-based Hannaford Supermarkets completed upgrades at seven locations across the Northeast during the second half of 2025.

Between August and December, the remodels focused on enhancing customer convenience – including the addition of self-checkout registers and the installation of private pharmacy consultation rooms – at stores in Maine, New Hampshire and New York.

The projects also incorporated features that increase the stores’ energy efficiency and reduce carbon emissions, including carbon dioxide refrigeration systems and electric cooking equipment.

“These projects reflect Hannaford’s commitment to providing customers with fresh, high-quality food at a dependable value while also supporting our communities and the planet,” said Todd Bullen, VP of retail operations at Hannaford Supermarkets.

“We appreciate all the associates who contributed to the success of these projects and look forward to continuing to deliver an outstanding customer experience in our stores in the new year.”

The upgraded Hannaford stores include:

• Ulster Avenue in Kingston, New York, features a larger variety of fresh, organic and local products, new meat and seafood displays, elevated sushi and fine cheese offerings, a wider array of hot prepared foods and enhancements to the full-service pharmacy.
