man jogging to improve health and wellness

Walmart is starting the new year with an expanded focus on customer health and affordability through the launch of Better Care Services and lowering prices on more than 1,000 wellness-focused products across food, supplements, over-the-counter items and fitness essentials.

The initiative is part of Walmart’s effort to make healthcare and healthy living more accessible for customers nationwide.

Better Care Services is a digital health destination that gives customers access to a curated network of third-party providers for urgent care and behavioral health services, as well as connections to LillyDirect for support with chronic conditions.

Beginning Jan. 15, customers can take advantage of a limited-time $15 discount on select telehealth services with participating providers.

The platform also features Walmart’s Nutrition Hub, powered by Everyday Health Signals, an artificial intelligence-driven experience that delivers personalized food and recipe recommendations.

Walmart’s price reductions span categories such as food, dietary supplements, over-the-counter remedies and workout essentials. The retailer also is expanding its wellness assortment with new products across multiple categories, including vitamins, fiber gummies, high-protein snacks, granola, functional beverages and wearable health tech.

The retailer said features such as more than 400 “New Year reset” recipes online and expanded specialty diet options – including keto, high-protein and gluten-free choices – are available.

The company’s wellness initiatives also extend into communities. From 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Jan. 24, Walmart will host its annual Wellness Event at nearly 4,600 of its pharmacy locations nationwide, offering free health screenings, low-cost immunizations and wellness consultations.

Walmart said its Wellness Events have delivered more than 5 million free screenings across the country over the past decade.

“Whether it’s the care you access, the food you buy or the products you rely on, our goal is to make wellness easier,” said Ralph Clare, SVP of health and wellness merchandising. “Customers should not have to choose between convenience, affordability and care, and at Walmart, they don’t have to.”
