Publix Super Markets has promoted Katie Scanlon to VP of pharmacy, effective Feb. 1.
Scanlon has spent nearly two decades with Publix, beginning her career in 2007 as a floating pharmacist in Sandy Springs, Georgia. She then advanced through roles including assistant pharmacy manager, pharmacy manager and clinical pharmacist.
Beginning in 2018, Scanlon served as director of central and specialty pharmacy, and two years later was named senior director of pharmacy administration – her most recent role.
Scanlon was a recipient of the 2023 President’s Award, one of Publix’s most prestigious honors recognizing leaders who champion a culture of inclusion, foster belonging and support the development and advancement of associates.

Scanlon will succeed Dain Rusk, who is resigning at the end of January to pursue an opportunity outside of grocery retail pharmacy.
Murphy also extended the company’s gratitude to Rusk for his contributions and impact on Publix’s pharmacy operations and the communities they serve.
