Food Lion has begun a new partnership between its hunger-relief platform, Food Lion Feeds, and Boys & Girls Clubs of America, aimed at supporting youth through nutrition education, wellness programming and access to healthy meals.
The three-year partnership includes a $250,000 commitment from Food Lion Feeds to support 20 local Boys & Girls Club organizations across Food Lion’s operating footprint. The initiative is designed to help empower youth by promoting healthy habits and providing resources that support physical and emotional well-being.
“At Food Lion, we believe that nourishing our neighbors goes beyond providing meals, it’s about empowering them to make better, healthier choices,” said Kevin Durkee, manager of Food Lion Feeds.
“Through our partnership with Boys & Girls Clubs of America, we’re investing in the health and future of our youth by equipping them with the knowledge and resources to understand what’s nutritious, eat well and build lifelong habits that support their overall well-being.”
In addition to financial support, the partnership includes associate-led engagement activities such as Healthy Habits Days, Club Market Days, Behind the Aisles field trips and Backpack and Pantry Pack-Outs, all designed to provide hands-on learning experiences focused on nutrition, budgeting and healthy lifestyles.
“Together with Food Lion, we’re creating meaningful experiences that deepen the connection between associates and the communities they serve,” said Jennifer Bateman, SVP of youth development, Boys & Girls Clubs of America. “This partnership strengthens the support system young people rely on every day – helping them build healthy habits, feel seen and supported, and ultimately create the great futures they deserve.”
Food Lion Feeds said the collaboration reflects its ongoing commitment to addressing food insecurity through long-term partnerships that create meaningful impact.
