Big Y Foods has shared plans to open a 53,000-square-foot supermarket in spring 2027 at 200 Indian River Road in Orange, Connecticut.
The move is aimed at strengthening the company’s presence in South Central Connecticut and building on the recent announcement of a future location at the Westfarms shopping mall.
“Orange is more than a new store, it’s a continuation of the story we’ve built with our family of Big Y locations across Connecticut,” said Mathieu L. D’Amour, VP of real estate and development.
“We’re committed to creating meaningful career opportunities, deepening local connections and delivering a shopping experience that’s convenient, personalized and rooted in the communities we serve.”
More details, including hiring opportunities and grand-opening events, will be shared in the coming months.
“Big Y is a fantastic addition to Colonial Commons and the Orange community,” said Charles Davis, VP of leasing for Brixmor Property Group, owner of Colonial Commons, the shopping center that will house the store.
“Grocery anchors are essential to the vitality of open-air shopping centers, generating daily trips while serving as a convenient resource for local households. Big Y’s commitment to quality, service and community aligns well with our long-term vision for the center.”
