Fareway Stores Inc. plans to close the Fareway Meat Market at 220 W. Main St. in Luverne, Minnesota, after deciding not to renew its expiring lease.
According to Fareway, closing the standalone market – the first of its kind for the company in Minnesota – is a business decision tied to lease terms rather than a shift in its regional strategy.
The Luverne meat market opened in 2022 after Fareway renovated the former W-2’s Quality Meats building.
At the time, the company described the location as a way to offer high-quality fresh meat products, main course offerings and complementary refrigerated and frozen items.
Fareway has not announced replacement plans for Luverne but continues operations at its other meat markets and grocery stores across its six-state footprint.
