AppCard has acquired ShoptoCook, a Buffalo, New York-based digital marketing company known for its grocery websites, in-store kiosks, recipes and social media marketing support.
The acquisition follows years of collaboration between the two companies and marks an expansion of AppCard’s ability to deliver an end-to-end digital commerce experience for grocers, shoppers and CPG partners.
Together, the companies have helped independent grocers bridge the gap between in-store and digital engagement – combining AppCard’s personalized marketing, shopper analytics and digital coupons with ShoptoCook’s content-driven websites, in-store kiosks, recipes and social media marketing tools.
“With this acquisition, we’re bringing together two platforms that already work exceptionally well together,” said Yair Goldfinger, co-founder and CEO of AppCard.
“For years, AppCard and ShoptoCook have collaborated to help grocers make digital engagement more accessible and more effective. By formally joining forces, we’re creating a more streamlined, connected commerce experience – one that benefits retailers, shoppers and CPG brands alike.”
Expanded reach
Across grocers using both platforms, about 18 percent of all digital coupons clipped occur on ShoptoCook-powered websites and in-store kiosks, underscoring the importance of meeting shoppers where they naturally engage – whether in-store, online or on the go.
The integrated experience has helped retailers address a growing industry challenge – ensuring digital tools are intuitive, visible and actionable for shoppers at every touchpoint.
Change in value for CPG brands
Through the acquisition of ShoptoCook, AppCard expands its retail media and shopper engagement footprint.
The combined platform includes thousands of grocery websites and in-store kiosks, collectively generating millions of shopper impressions across high-intent moments such as meal planning, recipe discovery and in-store decision-making.
For CPG brands, this expanded reach enables:
- Scaled distribution of personalized digital coupons and offers across trusted retailer-owned channels;
- Increased visibility through recipe content, in-store kiosks and retailer websites;
- The ability to influence shoppers before, during and after the store visit; and
- Closed-loop measurement tying impressions and engagement to coupon clipping, redemption and sales performance.
By unifying content, commerce and data, AppCard strengthens its position as a high-impact platform for CPGs seeking measurable, performance-driven retail marketing opportunities within independent grocery.
Seamless experience for grocers and brands
The expanded AppCard offering enables grocers to:
- Deliver consistent digital experiences across websites, in-store kiosks, rewards programs and mobile engagement;
- Connect personalized offers and digital coupons directly to recipes, inspiration and shopper content;
- Access deeper insights through integrated shopper analytics and reporting; and
- Simplify operations by reducing the complexity of managing multiple digital platforms.
“ShoptoCook was built to help grocers engage shoppers through content and inspiration,” said John Thompson, president and CEO of ShoptoCook.
“AppCard has long been a strategic partner, and our platforms naturally complement one another. Joining AppCard allows us to scale that impact – bringing together content, data and commerce in a way that delivers real value for grocers and CPG partners.”
Looking ahead
ShoptoCook will be integrated into AppCard’s platform and go-to-market strategy, with continued support for customers and partners. Both teams will work to ensure a smooth transition while accelerating innovation and expanding digital capabilities for the independent grocery market.
