Brookshire Grocery Co. (BGC) has expanded its “Focus on the Future” scholarship program to include five colleges and universities in Oklahoma, reinforcing the company’s commitment to education and community investment.

The expansion includes Northeastern State University, Oklahoma State University, Rogers State University, the University of Tulsa and Tulsa Community College, along with a new $125,000 funding commitment to support students pursuing higher education.
With the addition of these institutions, BGC partners with more than 45 colleges and universities across Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas and Oklahoma. In total, the company has committed more than $1 million through the program to help students pursue academic and professional goals in the communities it serves.
“We’re proud to have a program in place that helps thousands of students achieve their dreams,” said Brad Brookshire, chairman and CEO of Brookshire Grocery Co. “Education is one of our core priorities, and we are excited to expand the ‘Focus on the Future’ program to include these five Oklahoma institutions.”

The scholarship program supports both undergraduate and graduate students and is designed to recognize academic achievement, leadership and financial need. Awards vary by institution, with most structured as renewable scholarships intended to support students throughout their academic journeys.
A formal check presentation celebrating the partnership was held during the grand reopening of Reasor’s recently remodeled store in Tulsa. The event brought together university leaders, community partners and company representatives to mark the investment in higher education across the region.
Students already have begun to see the impact of the program. Catherine Rutledge, a student at Oklahoma State University-Tulsa, shared that the scholarship has been transformative.
“Without this support, earning my degree would not be possible,” she said. “As a parent and caregiver, the financial burden can be overwhelming. This scholarship allows me to continue pursuing my education and building a better future.”
University leaders also praised the initiative. Kari Shults, VP of advancement and president of the Tulsa Community College Foundation, said the partnership helps remove financial barriers and allows students to remain focused on their academic goals. Northeastern State University President Rodney Hanley added that the program strengthens access to higher education and supports long-term community success.
