Southeastern Grocers, parent company of Harveys Supermarket and Winn-Dixie, has delivered more than $368,000 in monetary and product donations through its holiday hunger-relief initiatives.

The total includes a contribution of $180,000 to Feeding America, generated through SEG’s in-store community donation programs, and more than $188,000 in product provided to food pantries through the grocer’s holiday pre-packed donation bag program.

“During this time of year, food represents comfort, connection and the foundation of many special family traditions. Yet, for many neighbors facing food insecurity, the holiday season becomes even more challenging,” said Anthony Hucker, chairman and CEO of Southeastern Grocers.

“We are proud once again to join hands with our longtime partner, Feeding America, to ensure the holidays are filled with joy, dignity and the sense of belonging every family deserves. Together, we’re doing more than filling plates – we are strengthening communities, creating hope and showing that small acts of kindness can have a truly profound impact in the lives of our neighbors.”

The grocer launched its holiday giving efforts during November’s Gratitude Month. Every contribution helps provide meals for families in need and strengthens the movement to end hunger, which affects more than 47 million people nationwide, according to Feeding America.

Customers at select Harveys Supermarket and Winn-Dixie stores purchased the grocer’s “Give a Little, Feed a Lot” pre-packed donation bags filled with nonperishable food.

Last month, SEG’s charitable arm, SEG Gives Foundation, also donated $100,000 to Feeding America and distributed more than 7,000 turkeys and holiday sides ahead of Thanksgiving.

In addition, Harveys Supermarkets and Winn-Dixie are offering a Holiday Meal Deal in the deli through New Year’s Day.

For $39.99, the meal includes a choice of Dietz & Watson carver ham or turkey, four sides from Reser’s (cornbread stuffing, homestyle stuffing, green bean casserole, mashed sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes and homestyle gravy) and a 12-count package of King’s Hawaiian rolls.

All Harveys Supermarket and Winn-Dixie grocery and liquor stores will close at 9 p.m. on Christmas Eve and remain closed Christmas Day, reopening for normal hours Dec. 26. On New Year’s Eve, stores will operate until 10 p.m. (or regular closing time, if earlier) and resume normal hours Jan. 1.
