Food City continued its support of Wreaths Across Chattanooga by making a $15,000 donation and delivering 31,000 wreaths Dec. 13 to Chattanooga National Cemetery in Tennessee.

More than 100 volunteers, including a number of Food City employees and their families, placed the wreaths, which remain on display throughout December.

Wreaths Across Chattanooga works to recognize the service and sacrifice of veterans through the annual wreath-laying ceremony. It is part of the national Wreaths Across America movement, which coordinates the event at more than 4,000 locations across the United States each December.

Headquartered in Abingdon, Virginia, K-VA-T Food Stores, Food City’s parent company, operates 164 retail outlets throughout southeastern Kentucky, southwestern Virginia, East Tennessee, North Georgia and Alabama.

The company has a tradition of supporting military veterans and active-duty service members through various community initiatives and partnerships.
