Brookshire Grocery Co. (BGC), parent company of Reasor’s, donated nearly $80,000 worth of food to the Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma during a ribbon-cutting ceremony marking the reopening of the newly updated Reasor’s store in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.

The donation included 1,300 hams and a truckload of fresh produce, which will be distributed through partner food pantries to support food-insecure people and families throughout the region during the holiday season.
The ham donation is part of a broader partnership between Brookshire Grocery Co. and Hormel Foods Corp., through which the companies are donating 9,000 Hormel Cure 81 hams, valued at approximately $100,000, to food banks across BGC’s operating areas. The donations will benefit communities served by Brookshire’s, Super 1 Foods, Spring Market, FRESH by Brookshire’s, Reasor’s and FRESH by Reasor’s stores.

In addition to the hams, Brookshire Grocery Co., working with its vendor partners, contributed nearly 40,000 pounds of fresh produce, valued at $65,000, to the Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma. The produce and protein donations are intended to help meet increased seasonal demand for food assistance, particularly among children and seniors.
Representatives from Brookshire Grocery Co., Hormel Foods and the Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma gathered at the Reasor’s store, located at 1100 E. Kenosha St., to commemorate both the store’s re-grand opening and the charitable contribution. Company leaders emphasized the importance of collaboration between retailers, suppliers and nonprofits in addressing hunger at the local level.
“We are very proud to annually partner with Hormel Foods and other vendor partners to donate hams and produce this holiday season to nonprofits, including the Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma,” said Brad Brookshire, chairman and CEO of Brookshire Grocery Co.
“We are dedicated to making a difference in our stores and the communities we serve. We are proud to help thousands of families this Christmas holiday with this partnership with Hormel.”
The donation coincides with the conclusion of Brookshire Grocery Co.’s 23rd annual Food 2 Families campaign, which raises additional funds to support hunger-relief efforts. Proceeds from the campaign will be donated to the Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma, Tahlequah CARE Food Pantry and Grand Lake Community Ministry, further extending support to communities across the region.
