Wegmans Food Markets customers donated nearly $3.1 million during the company’s fall 2025 Check Out Hunger scanning campaign, the third highest amount in the program’s history.
The campaign ran from Oct. 22 to Nov. 29 at the company’s 114 stores, with 100 percent of proceeds going to each store’s local Feeding America food bank partner. Companywide, customers donated $570,000 more than during the same campaign in 2024.
“This year, the Check Out Hunger campaign proved especially vital, arriving at a critical moment when our food bank partners faced a surge in demand caused by the government shutdown and suspension of SNAP benefits,” said Deana Percassi, Wegmans VP of community engagement and communications. “We are deeply grateful to our customers and employees, who donated so generously for their neighbors in need during this campaign.”
Every division saw an increase in donations year over year, with 25 stores raising record amounts. The Rochester division exceeded its goal by more than $120,000, while the Syracuse division nearly doubled its 2024 total.
Foodlink, which serves the Greater Rochester area, received more than $820,000 from 21 Wegmans stores. FeedMore WNY collected nearly $496,000 from 11 stores in the Greater Buffalo area, and the Food Bank of the Southern Tier received more than $236,000 from five stores.
Individual stores reported standout moments during the campaign. At the Lyell Avenue store in Rochester, a single customer donated $2,000 across multiple visits. The Tysons Corner, Virginia, store reached its goal 19 days early and nearly tripled its 2024 total.
Since the program began in 1993, Check Out Hunger has raised more than $58 million for hunger relief. In 2024, Wegmans donated more than 36.6 million pounds of food to local food banks, food pantries and soup kitchens.
Wegmans operates 114 stores along the East Coast and has been named one of Fortune’s 100 Best Companies to Work For 28 consecutive years, ranking No. 6 in 2025.
