The Fresh Market opened two new stores on Dec. 11 in Lexington, Kentucky, and Chicago’s Old Town neighborhood.

The openings featured stores stocked with high-quality meats and seafood, fresh produce, local products and international items. The Fresh Market donated $2,000 to God’s Pantry Food Bank and the Greater Chicago Food Depository.

Grand-opening celebrations are scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 13, with giveaways, samples and the ceremonial cracking of an 80-pound wheel of parmesan.

“There’s truly no place like The Fresh Market during the holidays, and we’re thrilled to celebrate this season with our new guests in Lexington and Old Town,” said CEO Brian Johnson.

“We’re excited to be a part of these two wonderful communities and look forward to bringing our signature impeccable hospitality, curated product offerings, including the highest quality fresh foods, and elevated shopping experience that transforms everyday eating into extraordinary moments.”

The two stores cap off a growth year for the premium grocer, which opened seven new stores and debuted a liquor store concept in 2025.

The Fresh Market was rated by USA Today as one of America’s Best Customer Service Companies in 2025 and voted No. 1 in six categories by USA Today’s 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards, including Best Grocery Store, Best Grocery Store Bakery and Best Grocery Store Deli. Newsweek named the company Best Specialty/Natural/Ethnic Grocer for 2025.

The Greensboro, North Carolina-based retailer operates more than 165 stores in 22 states.
