The Kroger Atlanta Division has opened a $34.5 million, 118,000-square-foot Kroger Marketplace at 995 Loganville Hwy. in Bethlehem, Georgia.
The community attended the Dec. 10 celebration, which featured the Apalachee High School Marching Band, JROTC cadets, school chorus, elected officials, community partners and Krogis the mascot.
“This is not just a capital investment; it is an investment in the community. At Kroger, our purpose is to feed the human spirit” said Victor Smith, president of Kroger’s Atlanta Division.
“This new Marketplace in Bethlehem demonstrates our dedication to being a trusted grocer, retailer and health care provider for the community.”
In keeping with Kroger’s commitment to building “Zero Hunger | Zero Waste” communities, contractors and partners recycled more than 95 percent of construction waste to prevent it from going into landfills.
The division recently opened a Kroger Marketplace in nearby Hoschton, Georgia, and broke ground earlier this year on a new store in Locust Grove, Georgia.
The Bethlehem store features Kroger’s standard departments, along with Starbucks, Murray’s Cheese, a culinary kiosk, Kitchen Place, grocery pickup, an adjacent fuel center and pharmacy with a drive-thru.
The store also features a mural designed by Joseph Norman, a University of Georgia professor of art, and the Color the World Bright team.
The Kroger Atlanta Division is made up of 27,000 employees across Georgia, eastern Alabama and South Carolina.
