Publix housing donation

Publix Super Markets Charities (PSMC) has donated $15 million to more than 300 nonprofits across its operating region, aimed at supporting services such as home building, transitional housing and emergency shelter for those facing homelessness.

The donation will support a broad array of partners, including affiliates of Habitat for Humanity. Since 2015, the foundation has contributed more than $69 million to housing-related efforts, an amount that grows substantially with this newest round of grants.

“We’re proud to build on our support of Habitat for Humanity affiliates and other nonprofits,” said Publix Charities Executive Director John Doran.

“These organizations are important to our communities and offer hope to individuals and families experiencing housing insecurity and homelessness. We remain committed to continuing Publix founder George Jenkins’ legacy by doing good, together.”

In a statement reflecting the impact on local organizations, a representative from one of the Habitat for Humanity affiliates expressed gratitude for the support that helps make additional homeownership possible for some families.

“Publix Super Markets Charities understands the need in our community for affordable housing,” said Renee Snyder, president and CEO of Habitat for Humanity Sarasota in Florida.

“Their substantial and continued investment in our homeownership program year after year creates generational change. Their generous support makes it possible to build another home and change the life of another deserving family.”
