Smart & Final will open a 25,000-square-foot location Dec. 10 at 3705 Rosecrans St. in San Diego’s Midway District, a neighborhood that is transforming into a walkable entertainment, retail and residential hub.
The Los Angeles-based retailer specializes in delivering value to household and business customers through a hybrid model that combines everyday grocery sizes with club-pack quantities.
The format draws families, community groups and commercial customers, including restaurants, caterers and organizations requiring quality ingredients and bulk essentials.
“Our goal is simple – to give customers more ways to save without sacrificing quality,” said District Manager Anthony Hofer.
“This new Midway District store brings together expanded fresh offerings, convenient shopping and the club-size values for which Smart & Final is known. We’re excited to support families, small businesses and the broader community as the neighborhood continues to evolve.”
Store format targets dual customer base
The Midway District location features club-size values on thousands of grocery, household and business essentials alongside expansive fresh departments.
The store includes a produce section, meat department and stocked deli featuring the retailer’s First Street oven roasted chickens.
Smart & Final stocks organic and eco-friendly options from its Sun Harvest private brand. Business-focused products include high-quantity paper goods, beverages, snacks and cleaning supplies. It also houses a floral department.
Same-day delivery is available through SmartandFinal.com or the mobile app. Beginning at 7 a.m. on opening day, customers will receive a free reusable tote bag with purchase and can enter to win a Smart & Final gift card.
Charitable foundation directs $20,000 to local organizations
The Smart & Final Charitable Foundation will award $20,000 in donations to four San Diego-area organizations.
Recipients include Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater San Diego, which has served youth and families for more than 80 years; Generate Hope, which offers long-term housing, education and vocational support for survivors of trafficking; Mama’s Kitchen, which provides nutritional support for at-risk residents with critical illnesses; and San Diego Youth Services, which helps develop lifelong skills for self-sufficiency.
