Fareway has shared several leadership transitions, as well as the promotion of two employees to officer roles.
The personnel moves come as the company honors the retirements of executives who made lasting contributions to Fareway’s legacy.

Mark DeYoung has been promoted to VP of retail construction and maintenance, while Roger Wirtz has been promoted to regional VP.
DeYoung previously served as director of retail design, where he played a pivotal role in designing and constructing Fareway’s retail locations.
Wirtz previously served as a regional supervisor, where he demonstrated a strong commitment to operational excellence and team development across multiple store locations.
Leadership retirements
The promotions follow the retirements of two longtime executives, Matt Sherwood and Jim Giardino.
Sherwood, VP of engineering, is retiring after 17 years of service. His tenure was marked by innovation and leadership, contributing to Fareway’s growth and modernization.
Giardino, regional VP, is departing after a 47-year career with Fareway. His leadership, mentorship and dedication left a mark on the company and its people.
“We are incredibly grateful for the decades of service from Matt and Jim, and we wish them the very best in retirement,” said Fareway Stores President and CEO Reynolds Cramer. “At the same time, we are excited to recognize Mark and Roger for their outstanding contributions and look forward to their continued leadership in these new roles.”
