Food Club AJ McLean

This Thanksgiving, Food Club, along with brand partner Feeding America, has teamed up with boy band celebrity AJ McLean to fight hunger in support of the brand’s 80th anniversary and McLean’s new EP release on Thanksgiving Day titled, “Hi, My Name is Alex.”

Earlier this month, Food Club shoppers had the opportunity to win grand prize tickets on the brand’s Instagram page to meet McLean, Soulidified and 3quency DJ Sessions and attend a  concert at their Las Vegas show. Additionally, select fans received a Food Club Thanksgiving Feast Prize Pack filled with some of the musician’s favorite Food Club products to improve their Thanksgiving meal.

As a result of the contest, Food Club donated 300,000 meals through Feeding America.

“Through our partnership with AJ, we’ve been able to utilize iconic music to connect with multiple generations of Food Club shoppers, bridging fans who grew up through the boy band  era with younger generations of pop music listeners,” said Justyne Uribe, EVP of marketing and merchandising for Certco Inc. and Topco member.

“These activations with boy band members have offered the brand national visibility, which is unique territory for an Own Brand. Having the opportunity to create additional moments with our shoppers online as well as in-store while also giving back to local communities through Feeding America has made a substantial impact.”

Last month, McLean competed against Lance Bass of *NSYNC in a Boy Band Bake-Off to promote Food Club’s partnership with Feeding America. The bake-off challenged the stars to utilize Food Club ingredients to bake and decorate cakes to match notable album covers from the other musician’s career; Bass recreating the cover for BSB’s “Millennium” and McLean emulating the cover of *NSYNC’s “No Strings Attached.” Fans voted for their favorite cake through social media channels, with each earning a donation in their name to Feeding America.
