Vallarta Supermarkets will open a new 39,295-square-foot store Dec. 10 at 273 E. Gladstone St. in Azusa, California, marking the family-owned chain’s continued expansion in the San Gabriel Valley.
The first 300 customers at the grand opening will receive reusable grocery bags filled with food. Vallarta also is donating $7,500 to five local schools and charitable organizations.
“Community has always been at the core of who we are,” said Lizette Gomez, director of marketing at Vallarta. “Our Azusa store represents our continued commitment to providing quality products, exceptional service, and meaningful support to the neighborhoods we call home.”
The location will showcase Vallarta’s full array of specialty departments, anchored by its Carnicería that features the chain’s original carne asada and other premium marinated cuts.
The store also will house a Panadería producing fresh tortillas, pan dulce and decorated cakes daily, alongside a Pescadería and in-house Cevichería offering small-batch ceviches throughout the day.
Additional departments include La Cocina for hot ready-to-eat meals, a Cremería with traditional cheeses like queso fresco and cotija and a juice bar serving aguas frescas from traditional vitroleros.
The store includes a Florería with flower arrangements and potted plants, as well as fresh-pressed juices and fruit bowls topped with Tajín and chamoy. The produce section will blend Latin American staples with organic items sourced locally and internationally.
The retailer has integrated the location into major third-party delivery platforms, including DoorDash, Uber Eats and Instacart.
