Save A Lot has launched SNAP EBT payment acceptance on Uber Eats at more than 325 locations, expanding same-day grocery delivery access for benefit recipients across its footprint.
The grocer partnered with Forage Technology Corp., a USDA-approved third-party payment processor, to enable the service.
Save A Lot operates about 700 stores in 30 states. The rollout addresses accessibility challenges for customers in food deserts, seniors, people with disabilities and households without reliable transportation.
“As a hometown grocer, we serve many communities where full-service grocery options are limited,” said Mark Kotcher, SVP of sales at Save A Lot.
“By enabling SNAP EBT with Forage on Uber Eats, we’re meeting customers where they are – online and on mobile – with an easier way to get fresh food at great prices. Forage also helped us seamlessly enable Save A Lot locations owned and operated by independent licensees, removing roadblocks that had delayed previous rollouts.”
Through Dec. 31, Save A Lot is offering first-time Uber Eats customers 30 percent off orders of $50 or more, with a maximum discount of $25. The promotion aims to drive trial during the holiday season when household budgets face additional pressure.
Customers can add their EBT cards to the Uber Eats wallet and select SNAP-eligible items from Save A Lot’s digital storefront. A secondary payment method is required for non-eligible items like prepared foods or household supplies.
“Delivery can be a lifeline when mobility, food deserts or work schedules make it hard to shop in person,” said Ofek Lavian, co-founder and CEO of Forage.
“Our job is simple – make EBT work wherever a family buys food, including the delivery apps they already use. We’re proud to help Save A Lot go live on Uber Eats and to unlock licensee participation so more shoppers can access convenient grocery delivery.”
About 42 million Americans receive SNAP benefits to purchase groceries. Forage specializes in government benefit payment infrastructure and is the only USDA-approved third-party processor offering retailers end-to-end software solutions with dedicated implementation support and regulatory guidance.
