The Save Mart Companies Maxx Value

The Save Mart Companies celebrated the grand reopening of its Maxx Value store Nov. 19 at 415 Paradise Road in Modesto.

The retailer is bringing the same warehouse-style value and affordability as the company’s FoodMaxx banner in a smaller footprint, without requiring a membership. The company has served families and neighborhoods in the Modesto market for more than seven decades.

“We’re thrilled to bring Modesto a renewed Maxx Value shopping experience that keeps affordability and community at its heart,” said Nicholas Chan, VP of store operations at The Save Mart Companies.

“This re-opening is a celebration of our customers and a thank-you to a community that’s supported us for generations. We want to continue to be a destination for value-minded shoppers and this store allows us to be exactly that.”

The Modesto Maxx Value features expanded meat dairy deli and frozen sections, along with an expanded beer and Hispanic food assortment. The enhancements were made to elevate the store’s shopping experience, improve operational efficiency and align offerings with customer needs.

The 34,800-square-foot store first opened in 2006 as a Save Mart and transitioned to the Maxx Value format in 2012.

The grand re-opening drew crowds for a mystery gift card giveaway valued between $5-$100 for the first 100 customers. Leadership from The Save Mart Companies and local dignitaries gathered for a ribbon cutting, and invited the community to tour the store, enjoy product samples and take advantage of savings.

The Save Mart Companies also made community donations of $1,500 each to the Modesto High School FFA Ag Boosters and the Boys and Girls Club of Stanislaus County in support of their missions.

Opening day also featured a “Bag Your Savings” community competition. Two local nonprofits, the Stanislaus County Office of Education Homeless Resource Team and the Golden Valley Health Centers Foundation, raced to shop for and pack groceries and pantry essentials. All groceries bagged during the event were donated to the participating nonprofits, with the top team also earning $500 in gift cards to support their cause.
