Big Y Foods Inc. has announced plans to open two new stores in Southeastern Massachusetts as the company continues to expand its footprint and strengthen its connection with local communities.

The new locations are slated for Fairhaven and North Dartmouth, with openings expected in 2027.

The Fairhaven store, planned for Fairhaven Plaza at 7-9 Plaza Way, will occupy 62,000 square feet. It is scheduled to open in spring 2027 in a space formerly occupied by Big Lots.

In North Dartmouth, Big Y will open a 55,000-square-foot store at Faunce Corner Center on Faunce Corner Road. The location, previously home to Christmas Tree Shops, is expected to open in spring or summer 2027.

“These new stores will allow us to better serve families in the South Coast region,” said Mathieu L. D’Amour, VP of real estate and development. “We look forward to bringing Big Y’s quality, convenience and community focus to Fairhaven, North Dartmouth and surrounding communities.”

The company said additional details, including hiring information and grand opening events, will be announced in the coming months.

Big Y, a family-owned and locally focused supermarket chain, employs more than 10,000 people across its supermarkets, Table & Vine fine wine, beer and liquor locations, and Big Y Express fuel and convenience stores. The company has been recognized by Forbes as a Best-In-State Employer in Massachusetts and Connecticut for seven consecutive years and by Newsweek as one of America’s Most Trustworthy Companies for the past three years.

Founded in 1936 by brothers Paul and Gerald D’Amour, Big Y takes its name from an intersection in Chicopee, Massachusetts, where two roads meet to form a “Y.”
