Davis Food Co-op

Davis Food Co-op is utilizing ECRS’ CATAPULT solutions to empower and elevate its community impact initiatives by combating food insecurity in Yolo County, California.

On Nov. 3, the Davis Food Co-op launched a comprehensive initiative designed to deliver immediate relief and sustainable support for those most impacted by rising food insecurity. This multi-faceted effort underscores the fundamental principles of the cooperative model, placing people first and responding decisively in times of need.

“It is during these times of hardship that we pull together to ensure our neighbors and fellow members have food on their tables,” Davis Food Co-op shared in a statement. “Doing nothing is not an option.”

What Davis Food Co-op is doing to help

  • Partnering with the Yolo County Food Bank for a Food Access Relief Fund donation initiative at their registers with up to $5,000 donation matching. The goal is to provide $10,000 in gift cards to those affected by increased food insecurity;
  • Ordering $10,000 worth of food for the Yolo County Food Bank for its November Emergency Distributions in the community;
  • Donating $2,000 to its local Meals on Wheels in relief of an uptick in demand for the service;
  • Increasing the Community Needs-Based discount to 15 percent; and
  • Partnering with a local night market team to become a drop-off location for food donations.

Using ECRS’ CATAPULT to support the community

Davis Food Co-op is leveraging CATAPULT to drive its charitable initiatives. The co-op utilizes the Round-Up feature at both CATAPULT point-of-sale lanes and the WebCart online store, making it easy for shoppers to contribute. Online, it has implemented order types in WebCart to enable donations with auto-finalize. In-store, the team created physical donation cards in $1, $5, $10 and $100 denominations using the service items field under its Donation Department – providing a convenient, scan-and-go option for customers.
