Weis Markets has donated $555,000 to 18 food banks and pantries as part of the company’s 18th annual Fight Hunger program.
The donation includes customer contributions made at checkout in Weis stores throughout the year and a substantial corporate donation.
“Each year, we’re amazed by the incredible support our customers and associates show for our Fight Hunger campaign. We deeply appreciate our Weis team and shoppers for coming together to make a difference,” said Weis Markets’ COO Bob Gleeson.
“Given the current climate, contributions like this are more important than ever. No family should have to worry about when their next meal will be, and food banks play a vital role in helping us address food insecurity in our local communities. We’re proud to support our regional food banks to help close the gap for many families, so they do not need to choose between food and other essentials.”
As part of the campaign, Weis Markets presented donations to several of its largest partner food banks within its seven-state market area. These contributions include $150,000 to the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank and $110,000 to the Maryland Food Bank. These donations were given in November to help regional food banks address the rise in food insecurity that is expected this year.

Additional recipients of Fight Hunger donations include:
- The Second Harvest Food Bank of the Lehigh Valley and Northeast PA;
- Helping Harvest (Reading, Pennsylvania);
- The Commission on Economic Opportunity/The Weinberg Northeast Regional Food Bank (Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, Pennsylvania);
- Philabundance (Montgomery and Bucks counties, Pennsylvania);
- Community Hunger Outreach Warehouse (CHOW)/Broome County Council of Churches;
- Food Bank of the Southern Tier (Elmira, New York);
- Community Food Bank of New Jersey;
- Fredericksburg Regional Food Bank (Virginia);
- Food Bank of Delaware; and
- Mountaineer Food Bank (West Virginia).
