Food City opened three recently acquired stores Nov. 6 in Alabama. The former Winn-Dixie stores are 44,000 square feet in size and are located at:
- Jasper, AL (2405 US Highway 78E)
- Trussville, AL (465 Main St.)
- Fultondale, AL (1721 Highway 31N)
“We’re excited to expand our operations into this new market area,” said Steven C. Smith, Food City’s president and CEO.
“Winn-Dixie has served the community for a number of years, and we are proud to welcome these stores into our Food City family. We will continue to make significant investments in the locations over the coming months to meet the needs of our customers and ensure the future success of our new teammates.”
Food City hired the majority of the store associates, including the store managers, retaining their years of experience. The former Winn-Dixie locations closed on Nov. 3 to begin the conversion process and reopened Nov. 6 under the Food City banner. The store operating hours will remain unchanged – 7 a.m.-11 p.m. Monday through Sunday.
“While the stores will operate in much the same fashion throughout the holidays, with added variety and selection, we plan to begin making improvements to the locations in 2026,” Smith said.
Shoppers will find exceptional customer service and top-quality products at low prices, including Certified Angus Beef and in-house butchers to hand cut steaks and fresh meat to order, as well as farm fresh produce and an in-store bakery and deli.
Customers will earn 1 Fuel Buck for every dollar they spend on groceries using their Food City ValuCard. They can redeem 300 Fuel Bucks to receive 5 percent off their grocery purchases (discount applies to the first $100 in a single transaction). Once fuel centers are added to the store locations, customers can redeem their Fuel Bucks for savings at the Food City Gas n’ Go.
Headquartered in Abingdon, Virginia, Food City operates 164 retail outlets throughout southeast Kentucky, southwest Virginia, east Tennessee, north Georgia and Alabama.
