Food King

On Nov. 6, Food City opened three recently acquired former Winn-Dixie locations in Alabama. The rebranded stores, each of which is 44,000 square feet, are located in:

  • Jasper, AL (2405 U.S. Highway 78 East)
  • Trussville, AL (465 Main St.)
  • Fultondale, AL (1721 Highway 31 North)

‘”Winn-Dixie has served the community for a number of years, and we are proud to welcome these stores into our Food City family,” said Steven C. Smith, Food City’s president and CEO.

“We will continue to make significant investments in the locations over the coming months to meet the needs of our customers and ensure the future success of our new teammates.”

Food City hired the majority of the Winn Dixie employees, including the store managers. The locations closed on Nov. 3 to begin the conversion process and reopened three days later under the Food City banner.

“While the stores will operate in much the same fashion throughout the holidays, with added variety and selection, we plan to begin making improvements to the locations in 2026,” Smith said.

Shoppers will find exceptional customer service and top-quality products at low prices, including Certified Angus Beef and in-house butchers to cut steaks and fresh meat to order, as well as farm fresh produce and an in-store bakery and deli.

Customers will earn 1 Fuel Buck for every dollar they spend on groceries using their Food City ValuCard. They can redeem 300 Fuel Bucks to receive 5 percent off their grocery purchases (discount applies to the first $100 in a single transaction).

After Food City Gas n’ Go locations are added, customers can redeem Fuel Bucks for savings.

Headquartered in Abingdon, Virginia, Food City operates 164 retail outlets throughout southeast Kentucky, southwest Virginia, east Tennessee, north Georgia and Alabama.
