Big Y Foods recently celebrated the grand reopening of its supermarket at 1 Kent Road in New Milford, Connecticut.
The remodel, which began on March 31, includes upgrades designed to enhance customer convenience, shopping ease and product variety.
Shoppers will notice a more spacious and navigable store layout. By removing four feet from the back of each aisle, the traffic flow has improved. There is new flooring and updated décor throughout, including fresh paint and modern graphics.
In addition, the store boasts new energy-efficient lighting, refrigerated cases and equipment designed to reduce environmental impact and enhance overall energy performance.
“This remodel reflects Big Y’s commitment to enhancing the customer experience with thoughtful updates that align with the pace and priorities of our shoppers’ busy lives,” said Scott Gruner, store director.
“It has transformed the store into a more convenient and enjoyable place to shop, with a strong focus on freshness, quality and service. Overall, the remodel represents a meaningful investment in our employees, customers and the communities we proudly serve.”
The renovation features a transformation of several key departments:
- Bakery, kitchen, meat and produce: Each area has been redesigned for easier shopping and expanded variety;
- Hot food bar: Offers a rotating selection of hot soups, wings, fries, tenders and rotisserie chicken;
- Pet food section: Includes a new freezer and cooler with expanded options; and
- Beer and beverage: A brand-new beer cooler and beverage case.
The store also showcases a wide assortment of locally sourced products.
Shoppers will find specialty cheeses and ice cream from Arethusa Farm, fresh produce and milk from Kimberly Farm and baked goods from Dere Street. Center store boasts Portobello pasta sauce, Candlewood Coffee, Stosh’s Kettle Corn, Goatboy Soaps and Doggylicious dog treats.
“As the supermarket industry continues to evolve, it is important that we remain steadfast in our commitment to providing our customers with the best quality products and top notch service that they have come to expect from Big Y,” said Nicole D’Amour Schneider, SVP of retail operations and customer experience.
“Equally as important is our focus on providing our employees with a clean and safe work environment that allows them to use the newest tools, technology and equipment to deliver a best-in-class shopping experience to our customers.”
