Brookshire Grocery Co. (BGC) has entered into an agreement to acquire two Winn-Dixie locations from Southeastern Grocers (SEG) in Baton Rouge and St. George, Louisiana.
The locations, one at 8601 Siegen Lane in St. George and another at 13002 Coursey Blvd. in Baton Rouge, will become Super 1 Foods stores following a short closing for conversion.
“We are thrilled to have this opportunity to introduce Super 1 Foods to the Baton Rouge and St. George communities,” said Brad Brookshire, chairman and CEO.
“These new stores reflect our commitment to providing fresh, affordable groceries and exceptional service to families across the South Louisiana region. Our mission is to create and deliver exceptional experiences and value for our customers, guided by our core values. We look forward to becoming a trusted neighbor and partner in each community.”
Each location is anticipated to close Nov. 16, with the goal of reopening later that week as a Super 1 Foods. The stores will later undergo a remodel process to bring new features and expanded offerings.
As part of the transition, Brookshire Grocery Co. will offer employment opportunities to all qualified employees working at the acquired stores. In addition, the company plans to hire additional employees for each location.
Super 1 Foods keeps prices low by purchasing products by the truckload from distributors and passing the savings to customers.
As part of its value-driven approach, Super 1 Foods features its Wall of Values and Super Shocker sticker pricing, offering larger discounts on select items. Many of these offerings will be introduced as the stores are remodeled.
