Brookshire Grocery Co. (BGC) has entered into an agreement to acquire Uptown Grocery’s locations in The Village and Edmond, Oklahoma, which will become FRESH by Reasor’s stores following a short closure for conversion.
“We are thrilled to have this opportunity to introduce our FRESH store with our exceptional service to The Village and Edmond communities,” said Brad Brookshire, chairman and CEO for Brookshire Grocery Co.
“At FRESH, we offer far more than a typical grocery experience. From our award-winning dry-aged beef program to restaurant-quality, chef-prepared meals, every detail reflects our commitment to excellence. Alongside everyday essentials, we’re expanding our product offerings which will include adding in beer and wine to further enhance the shopping experience.
“These new stores represent a bold step in our company’s growth journey and stand as a testament to our mission to create and deliver exceptional experiences and lasting value for our customers, guided by our core values.”
Both locations will close at 7 p.m. Oct. 22, with the goal of reopening the following week as a FRESH by Reasor’s. After reopening, the stores will be remodeled to include new features and expanded offerings.
As part of the transition, BGC will offer employment opportunities to all qualified workers at the acquired locations.
In addition, it plans to hire more than 40 new employees for each store to support expanded offerings and deliver elevated service for customers. The roles will span departments including culinary, customer service, merchandising and store operations.
The Village store’s center will be located at 9515 N. May Ave. and the Edmond store’s center will be located at 2740 Featherstone Road – both in Oklahoma City.
FRESH locations feature dozens of chef-prepared entrees, Japanese ramen and Vietnamese pho counters, a taco bar, brick-oven Neapolitan-style pizza, artisan bakery, dry-aged beef, full-service meat and seafood counter, charcuterie and cheese selections, fresh produce with a large variety of organics and a full-service floral shop.
The stores also have a coffee bar, hand-crafted gelato, patio dining, outdoor café, live music and on-site parks with children’s playgrounds. The company plans to introduce many of these offerings at the acquired stores in the coming months.
Family-owned BGC has grown into a regional grocery retailer with some 17,000 employees and more than 217 store locations in four states. Stores operate under the banners of Brookshire’s, Super 1 Foods, Spring Market, FRESH and Reasor’s.
