Big Y has begun its annual Partners of Hope campaign, an initiative held each October to raise awareness and funds for breast cancer research and treatment.
Through this campaign, Big Y provides support to local breast cancer organizations, hospitals and medical centers.
To participate, customers can purchase a Partners of Hope ribbon for $1 when checking out at any Big Y location or donate here through Oct. 22. All proceeds from Big Y’s Partners of Hope Campaign are donated to 33 local breast cancer support groups throughout Massachusetts and Connecticut.
“Hartford Hospital is proud to be a recipient of Big Y’s Partners of Hope campaign,” said Kristen Lapenta, associate director of special events, philanthropy.
“Every dollar raised supports Hartford HealthCare’s Cancer Institute at Hartford Hospital and its Take the Time Mobile Mammography program, which provides free mammograms to uninsured and underinsured women. Over the years, Big Y’s support has helped deliver more than 1,000 free mammograms to women across Connecticut.”
Since 2007, the initiative has raised more than $3 million. In addition, many products have special pink packaging, which indicates the product manufacturers will be donating a portion of their proceeds to breast cancer research and education throughout Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
“Every October, we’re reminded of the strength and resilience of those impacted by breast cancer,” said Richard D. Bossie, Big Y EVP and COO.
“Partners of Hope is more than a campaign; it’s a commitment to our community. By supporting local organizations and medical centers, we’re helping ensure that critical care and resources are within reach for those who need them most.”
