Upshop has introduced Upshop 360, a unified grocery operating system, at Groceryshop 2025.
The new system does more than connect supply, demand, production and fulfillment into one platform – it embeds AI across all operational data to give retailers something they’ve never had before: a real-time, accurate and AI-powered cockpit.
The cockpit tells grocers what to do next: optimize replenishment, trigger markdowns before waste happens and direct associate tasks to unlock the most margin. With fresh food departments generating 20-45 percent margins compared to 1-7 percent in center store packaged goods, precision in perishable management is more critical than ever before to ensure profitability and sustained competitiveness.
“Retailers don’t need more dashboards, they need direction,” said Mike Sanders, CEO of Upshop. “Upshop 360 is AI applied to every corner of grocery operations. It gives leaders the ability to see, decide and act – faster than problems pile up.”
The platform unifies five suites – Fresh 360, Waste 360, Inventory 360, Commerce 360 and Compliance 360 – into a single flow. Each suite powers the others: Fresh feeds Inventory, Waste informs Commerce and Compliance oversees the whole. It’s one system and one source.
U.S. food waste still accounts for nearly 38 percent of supply, representing $473 billion in lost value annually. Even a 1 percent improvement in fresh efficiency can translate into millions in profitability for a 100-store chain.
According to the company, adoption is spreading globally. From Gelson’s in California to Prezzemolo & Vitale in Sicily, retailers are deploying Upshop 360 with the expectation that an AI-powered cockpit is the foundation of the modern grocery enterprise. The platform promises that “in a business where margins are thin and risk are constant and massive, understanding and optimizing everything to run grocery like the high-performance enterprise is a requirement for long-term survival.”
