Albertsons Companies Inc. has introduced for U Travel, a new booking experience powered by Expedia that allows customers to plan air and non-air travel through the grocer’s free for U loyalty program, accessible via mobile app and website.

“At Albertsons Cos., we know saving money and stretching budgets is more important than ever, which is why we’re always looking for new ways to bring additional value and ease to our customers,” said Manjari Mehrotra, VP of loyalty for Albertsons Cos.

“For U Travel extends our loyalty experience beyond the grocery store and rewards our customers for something they already do – travel.”

Members of the free for U loyalty program that book travel through the platform can earn up to 5 percent cashback to use toward grocery purchases at any Albertsons Cos. stores, including Albertsons, Safeway, Vons, Jewel-Osco, ACME and Shaw’s. Members of the Albertsons Cos. paid FreshPass loyalty program can earn up to 10 percent cashback.

“At Expedia Group, our mission is to make travel accessible and rewarding for everyone, and partnering with Albertsons Cos. allows us to reach travelers where they already shop,” said Carolina Cabero Manrique, SVP of private label solutions.

“From our 2025 Traveler Value Index, we found that 82 percent of consumers are interested in booking travel through a non-travel loyalty program, like for U Travel. We’re excited about this new partnership, which uses our White Label Template solution to power more traveler experiences and loyalty programs.”

In addition, customers who sign up for Albertsons Cos.’ free for U loyalty program will receive $5 off their next purchase of $25 or more of qualifying items, and top members save 35 percent weekly with personalized deals, digital coupons, a birthday treat and free monthly item.
