Family-owned ShopRite of Hunterdon County is rolling out Caper Carts in September at its three New Jersey stores – Clinton, Flemington and Greenwich.
Developed by Instacart and powered by AI, the carts feature interactive screens that let shoppers scan items as they shop, track their spending in real time and check out.
The latest ShopRites, each store will host a ribbon cutting to celebrate the launch on the following days:
- Sept. 15 – ShopRite of Greenwich;
- Sept. 23 – ShopRite of Flemington; and
- Sept. 29 – ShopRite of Clinton.
“As a third-generation grocer, I’ve seen how technology can transform the shopping experience,” said Sam Colalillo of ShopRite of Hunterdon County. “Our customers now have a smarter, faster way to shop, with tools to track spending, find savings and checkout directly from the cart using a saved payment method.
“It’s a game-changer for convenience, and we’re proud to bring this innovation to our stores.”
The Colalillo family recently introduced Caper Carts at its ShopRite stores in Yardley and Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. Customers can also synch their ShopRite Price Plus Club cards to the carts.
