One Banana, a family-owned, vertically integrated produce company, has opened a new ripening and distribution center in Wilmington, North Carolina.
Located 12 miles from the Port of Wilmington, this 19,800-square-foot refrigerated facility is designed to serve customers across the East Coast and Mid-Atlantic.
The Wilmington Distribution Center represents a significant investment in modern produce handling, combining advanced technology with streamlined logistics to reduce dwell time, protect product quality and support customer growth. The facility features seven 42-pallet ripening rooms equipped with EU-style reverse air flow systems, providing precision control for bananas, avocados, mangos, pears and other produce.
The Wilmington DC offers a full suite of services to growers, retailers, foodservice distributors and wholesalers. Services offered include:
- Ripening – Reverse air flow technology ensures consistent quality and a better overall product;
- Drayage & Cross-Docking – Faster turns from vessel to outbound trucks to reduce transit time;
- Cold Storage – Temperature controlled to accommodate up to 580 pallets, including container plug-ins for green storage; and
- Re-Palletization and Inspections – Flexible handling to meet retailer, foodservice and distributor requirements.
“With our new facility in Wilmington, we’re not just adding capacity – we’re creating a faster, more responsive produce supply chain for the East Coast,” said Rob Adams, president of One Banana. “Our goal is to help our customers move product from port to market with less time, less waste and more confidence in every shipment.”
By positioning the facility near one of the fastest-growing ports on the U.S. East Coast, One Banana enables customers to cut hours off delivery routes and maintain optimal cold chain integrity. This location will be helpful for seasonal surges, imports and tight delivery windows for high-value produce.
