The Kroger Co.’s Atlanta Division broke ground Sept. 3 on a new Marketplace at 4050 Millside Pkwy. in Oakwood, Georgia.
The store represents a $49.2 million capital investment, encompassing more than 123,000 square feet. The location is expected to open in fall 2026.
The ground-breaking ceremony featured speeches from local elected officials, Kroger leaders and state representatives.
“This is not just a capital investment, it’s a community investment,” said Victor Smith, Kroger’s Atlanta Division president. “We recognize Kroger’s unique role in the communities we serve and are committed to creating positive change and delivering on our purpose to feed the human spirit.”
In addition to customer favorites like floral, bakery, deli, meat and fresh produce, the new marketplace will feature a variety of amenities, including:
- Starbucks kiosk;
- Sushi kiosk;
- Murray’s Cheese Shop;
- Expanded household, baby, toy and apparel departments;
- Full-service pharmacy with drive-thru;
- Online ordering with convenient pickup services; and
- Fuel center.
The store also will showcase Kroger’s new “Fresh for Everyone” décor, designed to enhance the shopping experience.
“As an employer, food processor, retailer, healthcare provider and more, we are proud to be a part of this growing community,” Smith said.
Kroger’s Atlanta Division has opened two new Marketplace stores in Georgia this year – in Athens and in Hoschton. The division also will debut a Marketplace in Bethlehem, Georgia, in December. Earlier this year, the Atlanta Division broke ground on a Marketplace in Locust Grove, Georgia.
