Meijer Pharmacy is offering a series of essential vaccines, headlined by an intensified focus on the seasonal influenza (flu) vaccine.
Despite being one of the Midwest’s most popular seasons, autumn brings a spike in respiratory illnesses. Meijer pharmacists are available to help customers navigate their vaccine needs with personalized consultations and advice. Scheduled and walk-in appointments are available during regular pharmacy hours.
“We understand our customers want clarity and confidence when it comes to their health decisions,” said Jackie Morse, group VP of pharmacy and health at Meijer. “Our pharmacists are seasoned professionals, equipped with the latest guidance and committed to helping everyone stay protected.”
With recent updates to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommendations, Meijer is offering the pneumococcal (pneumonia) and RSV (respiratory syncytial virus) vaccines to a broader population. Eligibility for both vaccines has been lowered to age 50.
- Flu vaccine: Recommended for everyone ages 6 months and older, the updated flu shot helps prevent the spread of influenza, a highly contagious respiratory virus that peaks during the cooler months.
- Pneumococcal vaccine: Now recommended for adults starting at age 50, this shot protects against pneumonia and serious pneumococcal infections that can be particularly harmful during the fall and winter months.
- RSV vaccine: With updated guidelines, adults ages 75 and older are recommended for protection against RSV and in addition, those ages 50-74 that are at risk of severe RSV are eligible. RSV is a common respiratory virus that can lead to serious illness, especially in older adults and those with certain chronic conditions.
“As the one-stop shop for health and wellness, Meijer is where you can find not only the vaccines you need but also the guidance and support our customers are looking for,” Morse added. “We invite everyone to talk with our pharmacists about eligibility, to help keep themselves and their loved ones healthy this season.”
Similar to filling eligible prescriptions, customers also will earn 500 mPerks points for receiving a vaccination. These points can be converted into mPerks rewards.
