Winn-Dixie is celebrating its centennial anniversary in September with nostalgic pricing, special celebrations and a renewed commitment to fighting hunger through monetary donations.
“Reaching 100 years is an extraordinary milestone that belongs to everyone who has been part of Winn-Dixie’s journey – our associates, our customers and the communities we call home,” said Anthony Hucker, chairman and CEO for Southeastern Grocers, Winn-Dixie’s parent company.
“For generations, we’ve been a trusted part of family dinners, holiday gatherings and everyday moments that matter most. That trust is our greatest measure of success. As we celebrate our centennial, we honor our lasting legacy of serving our neighbors with quality and value and look ahead with a renewed commitment to empowering people to feed and enrich our communities as we carry Winn-Dixie into the next century.”
Through Sept. 30, Winn-Dixie is offering special throw-back pricing on several items each week, with exclusive savings of up to $100 on grocery favorites such as Chek Cola, private-label staples and national brands. The pricing will be available through digital coupons in the Winn-Dixie Rewards app and online.
From 4-6 p.m. Sept. 5, Winn-Dixie is holding a free community birthday bash at six select stores across the Southeast. Each celebration will feature live music, birthday cake, giveaways, sampling and family fun.
The first 100 customers at each location will receive a mystery Winn-Dixie gift card valued between $19.25 (the year the grocer was founded) and $100.
In the grocer’s hometown of Jacksonville, Florida, shoppers can take photos with a replica of former NASCAR driver Mark Martin’s No. 60 Winn-Dixie car.
The celebrations will take place at the following locations:
- 611 E. Main St. in Apopka, Florida;
- 10505 NW 41st St. in Doral, Florida;
- 10915-122 Baymeadows Road in Jacksonville, Florida;
- 9864 Stringfellow Road in St. James City, Florida;
- 13508 N. Florida Ave. in Tampa, Florida; and
- 2104 Williams Blvd. in Kenner, Louisiana.
Winn-Dixie also is marking its anniversary with a $200,000 donation to fight hunger. The contribution includes $100,000 to Feeding America to support hunger-relief programs and $100,000 in product donations to help communities across the Southeast.
