Natural Grocers will hold a remodel celebration Sept. 12 for its store at 6774 S University Blvd. in Centennial, Colorado.

The upgrades to the Cherry Knolls store, which opened in 2010, will offer customers a brighter, more open atmosphere and a contemporary layout for a faster checkout experience.

The location has been upgraded using sustainable building features and energy-saving innovations, such as non-toxic building materials and 100 percent LED lighting.

Employees will kick off the festivities at 8:15 a.m. with a $2,500 donation presentation to Food Bank of the Rockies, followed by a ribbon-cutting ceremony with the store manager.

Doors will open at 8:27 a.m. with giveaways, sweepstakes, sales and free samples. Customers will received discounts of up to 50 percent off select items throughout the store, including special deals in the store’s 100-percent organic produce department through Oct. 31.

“Our good4u Crew has had the pleasure of serving Centennial and its surrounding communities for almost 15 years at this location,” said Raquel Isely, VP of marketing for Natural Grocers.

“We look forward to celebrating this remodel with ‘old friends’ who have shopped with us since the beginning, as well as welcoming new customers to the Natural Grocers family in a fun, festive atmosphere.”

Grand reopening festivities will include:

  • The first 150 customers will receive mystery gift cards, ranging from $5 to $500.
  • The first 500 shoppers will receive a hand-crafted drawstring backpack, woven in collaboration with artisans in Peguche, Ecuador.
  • Prize Wheel – Spin the Natural Grocers prize wheel between noon-5 p.m. for a chance to win great prizes.
  • Customers will have the chance to win prizes through Sept. 26, such as an Aventon e-bike (valued at $1,400) and a $500 Natural Grocers gift card.

The Cherry Knolls store also now features a space for Nutrition Education classes and recipe demonstrations. The space also can be reserved for group activities and/or guest presentations.

Natural Grocers has partnered with Food Bank of the Rockies across its Colorado stores for over a decade through its “Bring Your Own Bag” program.

Each time customers bring their own shopping bag, Natural Grocers donates five cents per shopping trip to the food bank, which provides food and necessities to people in need across Colorado and Wyoming.

Through contributions raised from the “Bring Your Own Bag” program and donated food, Natural Grocers has provided more than 3 million meals to those experiencing food insecurity in Colorado and Wyoming.

“Right now, one in eight people in the communities we serve lives with food insecurity – that includes one in seven children,” said Erin Pulling, Food Bank of the Rockies president and CEO.

“With federal support significantly decreasing in the past year and the needs of our neighbors increasing due to reduced or lost Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits caused by programmatic changes, we are relying on the generosity of our community more than ever. That’s why we’re incredibly grateful for partners like Natural Grocers who are helping us ignite the power of community.”
