San Diego, California-based Bumble Bee Seafoods has introduced a new product line of single-serve cans in a variety of flavors.
Bumble Bee Snackers are single-serve 3-ounce cans of flavored and unflavored wild-caught tuna. They come premixed and don’t require any draining, making them a convenient snack meal on the go.
“People love flavored tuna, but not everyone wants a pouch. The simple solution [is] a flavored single-serve can. We’re excited to bring this to shelves,” said CEO Andrew Choe.
The varieties include Lemon Pepper, Sweet Heat, Thai Chili and nostalgic Tuna Salad. Those who prefer traditional flavors can also opt for the plain classic Chunk Light Tuna.
“The way people snack has changed over the years. They want flavor, they want protein, they want it to be mindlessly easy and it can’t cost a fortune. Bumble Bee Snackers check every one of those boxes.” said Jeremy Zavoral, senior director of innovation and insights.
Most single-serve flavored tuna has been sold in pouches, but 84 percent of shoppers still buy tuna in cans. Shoppers can get to the tuna easier, catch any spills and use it as a bowl. The compact size also makes it easy to stack in the pantry.
With an average retail price of $1.39, Bumble Bee Snackers have 20 percent more than a pouch.
The new Bumble Bee Snackers are available at many grocery retailers nationwide in-store and online, including Ahold Delhaize USA, Albertsons, Amazon, Kroger and Shoprite. They soon will be coming to Dollar Tree, Harris Teeter, Publix, Target and Walmart locations.
