Piggly Wiggly Alabama Distributing Co. has announced two key executive changes: Tony Chicarelli has been named VP of sales, business and store development, while Delma Craft has become VP of operations.
“These changes will help strengthen the PWADC organization as it works to improve its performance-driven service to its customers and strengthen retail profitability,” said Christopher Brown, president and CEO.
Chicarelli joined the Bessemer, Alabama-based company in May, reporting directly to Brown. In his new role, he will be responsible for driving sales and developing the company’s business with stores.
Craft, a 27-year veteran of the company and former VP of procurement, will work with Brown to transition many of his current responsibilities to others.
In his new role, Craft will work closely with Steve Fowler, director of operations, to lead and manage the company’s warehouse, delivery and facility functions to improve service to stores.
“I am confident that these changes will support the PWADC performance-driven strategy in driving retail growth, sales, and most importantly, retail profitability,” said Brown, who has led the company since January.
Brown succeeded Jerry McCann, who retired after more than 36 years with the company in many capacities, including three-and-a-half years as president.
Brown brought more than 30 years of executive and management experience to the cooperative, most recently with Piggly Wiggly Midwest in Wisconsin. His prior experience also includes leadership roles with Nash Finch in Minnesota and C&S Wholesale Grocers in New Hampshire.
