The Western Association of Food Chains (WAFC) elected Chris Albi, president of King Soopers/City division of The Kroger Co., to its board of directors during an Aug. 1 meeting in Irvine, California.

With more than 40 years of leadership experience in the grocery industry, Albi brings knowledge, strategic insight and commitment to serving the community. She oversees 155 stores and more than 25,000 employees across Colorado, Wyoming and Utah.

Her leadership has helped guide King Soopers to success, and her election to the WAFC Board is a testament to her expertise and passion for driving growth and innovation in the food industry.

Albi began her career at King Soopers in 1981 as a courtesy clerk in Denver and rapidly advanced through various leadership roles, including store management, grocery category manager and director of grocery sales and marketing.

Her career path led her to positions in operations and merchandising, including roles as VP of merchandising for the Michigan Division, VP of operations at Fred Meyer and division president at QFC.

In 2022, Albi returned to King Soopers as group VP of operations before being appointed president in April.

The WAFC said Albi’s experience and vision make her a valuable addition to the board, where she will play a role in advancing the organization’s mission to support and advocate for education in the grocery industry.
