KeHE Distributors has opened its new distribution center in Elkton, Florida.
Elkton city officials joined KeHE executives and employees for a ribbon-cutting ceremony, where they heard from KeHE President and CEO Deb Conklin and KeHE COO Geoff Goetz. Attendees also enjoyed tours of the new facility, networking opportunities and entertainment.
Although it is 3,850 steps from the previous location, this new building provides a 61 percent increase in space, featuring 29,887 square feet of office space for employees and six temp zones, including 390,000 square feet of dry warehouse, 105,000 square feet of cooler/freezer space and dedicated ice cream and bulk rooms. The expansion allows KeHE to continue to offer enhanced services to retail partners and customers with an increased ability to stock store shelves with trending products.
“This warehouse has been designed with flexibility and scale in mind,” said Chuck Graefen, VP of operations and supply chain management at KeHE.
“Whether it’s meeting seasonal surges, onboarding new products or adapting to shifting customer demands, infrastructure and processes were built to support success, all of which translates directly into better service levels and reliability for our retail and supplier partners.”
The unveiling of the warehouse supports KeHE’s focus on operational excellence, helping employees improve labor planning, flexibility and performance tracking. Moreover, the facility enables growth, deepens partnerships and uplifts the community served with additional job opportunities.
