Kroger’s Atlanta Division broke ground July 11 on a new Marketplace store in Locust Grove, Georgia.
The store, which represents a $41 million investment, will span more than 123,000 square feet. It is expected to open in fall 2026.
“This is not just a capital investment – it’s a community investment,” said Victor Smith, division president. “We recognize Kroger’s unique role in the communities we serve and are committed to creating positive change and delivering on our purpose to feed the human spirit.”
In addition to departments such as floral, bakery, deli, meat and fresh produce, the Marketplace store will include a Starbucks, Murray’s Cheese, culinary kiosk, pharmacy with drive-thru, an adjacent fuel center and Kitchen Place.
“We are excited to celebrate this groundbreaking with our local officials and community partners,” Smith added. “As an employer, food processor, retailer, healthcare provider and more, we are proud to be part of this growing community.”
Smith also confirmed that the division will open two additional Marketplace stores later this year in Hoschton and Bethlehem, Georgia.
Made up of 27,000 associates, Kroger’s Atlanta Division includes Georgia, eastern Alabama and South Carolina.
