2024 Walmart Open Call

Walmart is accepting applications for its annual “Open Call” event, set for Oct. 7-8, which gives small business owners and entrepreneurs an opportunity to sell their U.S.-made, -grown or -assembled products via the retailer.

New this year, the Open Call is expanding beyond products to include innovative companies developing technologies that enable or enhance U.S. manufacturing.

Since 2014, Open Call has helped thousands of small and medium businesses grow operations, expand their manufacturing footprints and create jobs in their communities.

“America has no shortage of ideas — it’s the infrastructure and tools that are often the biggest roadblocks,” said Jason Fremstad, SVP of supplier development for Walmart sourcing. “We want to find innovations that can help close that gap and unlock new possibilities for U.S. manufacturing.”

Teams are looking for the best of the best of manufacturing innovation in categories such as yield insights, shelf-life extension, alternative materials and advanced manufacturing to reduce complexity, cost or environmental impact to U.S. manufacturing.

Submissions for manufacturing innovation pitches are open via its online form. A select group of companies will be invited to participate in this year’s Open Call experience alongside product-based applicants, which can apply here.

Open Call is part of Walmart’s broader $350 billion commitment to products made, grown or assembled in the U.S. More than 86 percent of Walmart shoppers have told the company it’s important that the products they buy are American-made.

In 2019, Walmart partnered with RangeMe to streamline and manage incoming submissions for the program. RangeMe is a product discovery and sourcing platform where product suppliers and retailers discover, connect and grow their businesses.

Those interested can apply for Walmart’s Open Call until July 25.
