Food City has begun its annual in-store donation campaign for Paralyzed Veterans of America (PVA), a national nonprofit for disabled vets, their families and caregivers.
In partnership with seven-time NASCAR champion Richard Petty, the campaign will run through July 29, encouraging shoppers to donate $1, $3 or $5 at check out. Food City also offers customers an opportunity to donate as part of a charity round-up feature.
Since 2011, Food City has raised more than $4 million, helping PVA’s mission to ensure disabled veterans receive the benefits they earned, the specialized health care they need and the careers they want.
“PVA is honored to partner with Food City and Richard Petty and deeply appreciates the generosity of those whose contributions directly impact the lives of veterans with spinal cord injuries and diseases, like MS and ALS,” said Robert Thomas, U.S. Army veteran and PVA national president.
“This annual campaign reflects the incredible impact we can have when local communities rally behind our nation’s heroes. Together, we’re creating lasting change that honors their service and helps them regain what they fought for: their independence.”
Steven C. Smith, Food City president and CEO, attributed the campaign’s success over the years to the grocer’s “dedicated team of associates and loyal customers.”
“Together, we have been able to support PVA and make our communities stronger. We look forward to working alongside PVA and Richard Petty again this year,” he said.
