Dierbergs Markets broke ground May 29 on its 28th store, which will be located at the Market at Olive Development in University City, Missouri.
The new 75,000-square-foot location will anchor the broader redevelopment and also include two multi-tenant buildings, adding about 8,500 square feet of retail, restaurant and service space along Olive Boulevard. Construction of the store is expected to be completed in 2026.
Local dignitaries, project partners and members of the community, including University City Mayor Terry Crow and key representatives from Dierbergs and the Market at Olive development team, were on hand for the ceremony.
“This is more than a groundbreaking – it’s the beginning of a new chapter for University City,” Crow said. “We are excited to welcome Dierbergs as a cornerstone of the Market at Olive, bringing fresh food options, jobs and renewed economic energy to this important part of our city.”
Greg Dierberg, president and CEO of Dierbergs Markets, said the company is proud to be a part of the “transformational” project.
“This location represents our commitment to serving the evolving needs of our customers while investing in the future of a great St. Louis community. It’s good to keep growing,” he said.
