Winston-Salem, North Carolina-based Lowes Foods is expanding in the growing Triangle region of North Carolina, as well as the South Carolina Lowcountry.
The Triangle stores will be in:
- Wendell, North Carolina, at Wendell Falls Parkway and Eagle Rock Road; and
- Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina, at Old Honeycutt and Purfoy roads.
In addition, the company will convert a Kj’s Market on Johns Island, South Carolina, into a full-service location. This conversion marks a step in Lowes Foods’ strategic integration of parent company Alex Lee’s grocery banners.
“This update reflects our commitment to delivering the right experience for every community we serve. Kj’s Market is an important part of our portfolio, and we’re confident Lowes Foods will offer an experience more tailored to this area’s unique demographic,” said Tim Lowe, president.
Lowes Foods also is investing in upgrades at three locations in the Triangle area of North Carolina. The stores at 8440 Louisburg Road and 7281 Veterans Parkway (Highway 42) have recently celebrated grand re-openings. The store at 112 Bass Lake Road in Holly Springs will have a re-grand opening June 26.
The remodels include refreshed interiors and enhancements to the retailer’s signature concepts, such as Boxcar Coffee, Sammy’s and an expanded Cheese Shoppe and Smokehouse. Each location also highlights locally-sourced products and community-inspired design features.
“Our remodeling efforts are focused on enriching the everyday shopping experience,” Lowe said. “We want guests to feel at home in our stores and to discover something new each time they visit. Whether it’s through new store openings or reimagined spaces, we are committed to offering an engaging grocery destination that reflects the spirit of each community”

We need a Lowe’s Food in the West Ashley area of Charleston. Many people would drive from downtown Charleston, to support such a quality store.
