Fifteen produce companies are collaborating with Publix Super Markets for the Healthy Family Project’s 23rd biannual Publix Produce for Kids campaign, aiming to provide 800,000 meals to 35 Feeding America partner food banks within the grocer’s operating area by June 25.
The companies include Coast Tropical, Ayco Farms, Driscoll’s, The Wonderful Company, Shuman Farms, Mucci Farms, SUNSET, CMI Orchards, Fresh Express, GT Living Foods, Vegpro International Inc., T. Marzetti, Chiquita, Ranier Fruit Company and Bay Food Brokerage.
Since 2002, the initiative has generated more than $4.2 million, contributing to some 15 million meals for local Feeding America food banks.
Participating Publix stores (1,404 locations) will feature bright signage showcasing fresh produce and meal ideas, alongside displays from the partners. The materials are designed to encourage healthier food choices.
This year, the campaign includes a new element: a Publix dietitian will share nutrition tips and balanced meal suggestions via Healthy Family Project’s digital platforms.
