Vallarta Supermarkets will hold a grand opening Feb. 5 for a new store – its first of 2025 – at 3900 Pelandale Ave., No. 200, in Modesto, California.

The store has taken over a 45,099-square-foot space, bringing 227 new jobs to the area. It has nine more employees than the grocer’s recently opened Clovis store, which is one of the largest Vallarta locations in the state.

Along with the fresh produce and everyday goods, the store will feature the following:

  • Guacamole station: Customers can customize fresh, hand-crafted guacamole and Pico De Gallo.
  • Sushi station: Sushi rolls made daily with the fresh ingredients. With multiple options to choose from, it’s ideal for lunch, dinner or a snack.
  • La Isla: Customers can order fresh-pressed fruit and vegetable juices, as well as Vallarta’s signature agua frescas in a variety of flavors.
  • La Fruteria: Choosing from the freshest fruits and ingredients, shoppers will find fruit bowls topped with Tajin, Chamoy, lime juice and salt.
  • Cremería: Vallarta’s version of a traditional deli, offering a selection of house-made cremas, as well as Latin American cheeses.
  • Panaderia: A variety of Latin American baked goods, made fresh daily, as well as hand-decorated cakes and signature sweets.
  • Carniceria: Known for its trademarked Carne Asada, it features a variety of American meat cuts and premium cuts not commonly carried at other supermarkets.
  • Tortilleria: Customers can select authentic corn and flour tortillas, made fresh in-house, soaked and boiled for 24 hours, ground with volcanic rock and then cooked.
  • La Cocina: La Cocina offers ready-made meals for any time of day, including traditional favorites from Mexico and Central America.
  • Dulcería: Vallarta’s candy section carries an array of authentic dulces from Mexico and Central America and also has piñatas, goody bags, games, prizes, piggy banks and traditional décor.
  • Florería: Shoppers can browse a wide selection of arrangements from local growers, as well as a variety of potted plants.

“Opening this new location is more than just expanding our business – it’s about creating a space where the community can come together over fresh, quality ingredients and authentic flavors,” said Lizette Gomez, Vallarta Supermarkets’ director of marketing. “We’re excited to share this milestone and look forward to serving Modesto with the heart and care they deserve.”

To mark the occasion, Vallarta also will be donating $7,500 to charities and schools in the Modesto area and giving away reusable grocery bags filled with groceries to the first 300 customers.

Through the Vallarta Go delivery service, customers can also shop online and have their groceries delivered. La Cocina items are available for delivery through DoorDash.
