Among the many participants at the 2024 NACS Show in Las Vegas was Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania-based Trion Industries, which manufactures merchandising solutions for retail displays and shelf management. Craig Weiskerger, director of sales and marketing, took time after the show to field some questions from The Griffin Report.

What is new with Trion?

Trion has recently made extensive investments to improve production efficiencies across the board.  With over 95 percent of our annual output produced in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, and our raw materials sourced from top North American suppliers, it’s imperative that our domestic manufacturing outputs be optimized.

Improvements include expansions and automations to our wire bending, machining, metal stamping, powder coating and plastic extrusion capabilities, as well as widespread improvements to our facilities.

What are some of your key takeaways from the show?

The convenience industry is not only seeing growth through the construction of new locations, it’s seeing regional chains growing through the acquisition of competitors.  These chain expansions are also looking to standardize store layouts and flows when possible.

It also appears that many convenience stores have tried imported displays and fixtures and were ultimately dissatisfied with their delivery times and performances.

The industry seems to now be favoring longer-lasting fixtures, like the WonderBar Pusher Tray system, that are made domestically with built-in, long-term durability.

What are some opportunities that grocery retailers can take advantage of now, as well as in the future?

It’s apparent that grocers that establish a positive company identity, while actively tailoring their offerings to their respective local and regional markets, are often outperforming the more standardized competitors.

What is your company doing to help retailers navigate this market?

Our products, such as the WonderBar Tray System and ZipTrack, are made to adapt to a wide array of items, which gives grocery retailers the flexibility to easily change items to adapt to their local markets. All items are consistently and attractively billboarded at the shelf front for easy customer choices.

Anything else that you would like to mention?

Trion is consistently recognized as the fixture manufacturing leader, delivering the highest quality products on time, supported by industry-leading customer service.
