Jeff Pedersen, president and CEO of Retailer Owned Food Distributors & Associates (ROFDA), plans to step down after the organization’s spring conference to pursue a new opportunity.

ROFDA praised Pedersen, who was appointed to the position in February 2022, for his impact and bringing visionary leadership, fostering strategic partnerships and championing collaboration across the grocery industry.

Under Pedersen’s guidance, ROFDA has enhanced member engagement, advanced critical initiatives and strengthened its position as a key voice for independent retailers and wholesalers.

“It has been an extraordinary privilege to serve as ROFDA’s president and CEO,” Pedersen said.

“This organization’s mission and the people behind it are truly inspiring. I am immensely proud of what we have accomplished together, and I look forward to seeing ROFDA’s continued success and innovation in the years to come.”

Pedersen came to ROFDA after a career of almost 25 years with Associated Wholesale Grocers in Kansas City, Kansas, where he served as the EVP, chief sales and support officer. Prior to that, he held numerous grocery store retail positions throughout the Midwest, starting his industry journey as a courtesy clerk and working his way up to management.

Mike Violette, chairman of the ROFDA board and president and CEO of Associated Grocers New England, expressed gratitude to Pedersen for his service.

“Jeff’s leadership has been instrumental in advancing ROFDA’s goals and delivering exceptional value to our members and partners,” he said. “While we are sad to see him go, we celebrate his accomplishments and wish him the very best in his next chapter.”

“As we bid farewell to Jeff, we are energized by the solid foundation he has helped build,” Violette said. “ROFDA’s future is brighter than ever, and we are excited to continue supporting our members with innovative solutions and strong partnerships.”

The ROFDA board of directors will begin the process of identifying Pedersen’s successor, ensuring a transition that aligns with its long-term strategic vision.

Pedersen will officially conclude his tenure following the spring conference, where the ROFDA community will have the opportunity to celebrate his contributions and wish him well.

Invitations for the event, along with registration details, will be distributed soon. All members are encouraged to attend and honor Pedersen for his leadership and celebrate together as a community.
